As diagnosis and treatment of cancer improves, more and more patients find themselves in a transitional period between completing cancer treatment and the shift to feeling physically and emotionally strong enough to return to their normal life (or their “new normal”). Our program will take place at the YMCA of Michiana, as opposed to a medical facility, so that we can focus on well-being, not disease.

LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA is a twelve-week, small group program that meets an important need in our community: supporting the increasing number of cancer survivors.

  • The goals of LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA include:
  • Improving strength & endurance
  • Increasing flexibility and day-to-day activities
  • Reducing the severity of therapy side effects
  • Preventing unwanted weight changes
  • Improving self-esteem and energy levels
  • Assisting in the development of a physical fitness program so the survivors to continue to practice a healthy lifestyle, not only as part of their continued recovery, but as a way of life.

In addition to the physical benefits, the program provides participants with a supportive environment and a feeling of community alongside their fellow survivors, YMCA staff and members.

Pre-registration is required. For more information, email us at or 574-287-9622.
