3 for 3 Triathlon

All proceeds benefit the LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA program for adult cancer survivors. This program helps survivors recover from their cancer diagnosis and treatments by working to improve their overall strength, endurance, balance and flexibility through a supportive group environment. LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA is offered at no cost to the participants due to generous community support and the 3 for 3 Triathlon.

at the Riverview Family YMCA

Please note: You will be required to come back to the gymnasium on race day to pick up your timing strap, even if you come to get your race packet on Saturday. Those that attend the Saturday packet pick-up will be given a race bib and that will be required to get your timing strap on Sunday morning.

Events & Age Groups

Adult Race • Ages 12 & up
  • 200 yard swim takes place in the Riverview Family YMCA pool or there is the choice of a ½ mile kayak in the St. Joseph River just outside the Riverview Family YMCA, for those that do not wish to swim.
  • 8-mile bike course runs east and west along the river in a closed course.
  • 2.5 mile run course is a loop on the riverwalk between the Riverview Family YMCA, Howard Park, and Jefferson Boulevard.
Teen Race • Ages 12-15
  • 100 yard swim
  • 3 mile bike
  • .5 mile run
Youth Race • Ages 6-11
  • 50 yard swim
  • 3 mile bike
  • .5 mile run

Relays

Adult Racers Relay

Teams of 2 or 3 can sign up and compete together. All racers on the team must sign up individually, then when prompted, select "relay" instead of "individual." Please make sure all teammates use the same team name during the online registration process. Participants on relay teams must be at least 12 years old and pay the adult registration fee.

Youth Fun Relay

Teams of 2 or 3 can sign up and compete together in the youth fun relay. Please make sure all teammates use the same team name during the online registration process. Participants in Youth Fun Relay must be between the ages of 6 and 15. Parents will not be allowed in the transition zone for youth racers. Children must be able to swim unassisted.

Transition Area

Open 6:30am on Sunday, September 22nd. There will be a separate section within the transition area for youth/teen bikes.

Please Note

All cyclists are required to wear helmets. There will be a brief mandatory “pre-race meeting” for all adults at 8:15 AM. Swimmers will meet in the gym and kayakers will meet by the river. The youth/teen pre-race meeting will be around 10:15 AM in the gym

Awards

Awards will be presented to the top participants in the 6-8 and 9-11 age groups

Parking

For packet pick up on Saturday please use the YMCA parking lot. On race day, the large YMCA parking lot (closest to The Brick) will be open for racers to park. The South Bend Farmers Market is also not too far away
